FANTASTIC PITCHBOX SESSION RULES

Le BIF MARKET, l’ARRF, l’ASA et l’UPFF+ organisent la septième édition de la BELGIAN FANTASTIC PITCHBOX, en partenariat avec Screen Brussels, pour encourager le développement de longs métrages de genres : fantastique, surréaliste, thriller, fantasy, SF, comédie noire, horreur, polar… 

Les 10 projets sélectionnés recevront une accréditation au BIFMarket, participeront à une formation au pitch, suivie d’un concours de pitch devant un panel professionnel, et permettant de remporter : 

  • 1000 € d’aide à l’écriture de Sabam for Culture
  • 1500 € d’aide au développement de Amplo
  • un programme de mentorat de l’Arpi

DÉROULEMENT

  • 22/12/2025 : ouverture de l’appel à projets
  • 02/02/2026 : clôture de l’appel à projets
  • 23/02/2026 : annonce des 10 projets sélectionnés
  • 02 et 06/03/2026 : Formation au Pitch
  • 17/04/2026 : Belgian Fantastic Pitchbox Session 7

CRITÈRES DE RECEVABILITÉ

  • Le projet doit être en langue française.
  • Le projet doit être un projet de long métrage de genre.
  • Le projet doit être déposé par une seule personne. 
  • Celle-ci doit résider en Belgique.
  • Elle ne peut déposer qu’un seul projet. 
  • Le projet doit être déposé en respectant strictement les modalités de dépôt détaillés ci-dessous, et en particulier l’aspect anonyme des textes demandés. 
  • Le projet ne peut pas avoir déjà participé au même appel les années précédentes.
  • Le projet ne peut pas avoir été sélectionné dans un autre concours de pitch en Belgique.
  • Le projet ne peut pas avoir déjà obtenu une aide de la Commission du CCA.
  • Le projet ne peut pas avoir déjà de diffuseur engagé dans son développement.

CRITÈRES DE PARTICIPATION EN CAS DE SÉLECTION

  • La personne sélectionnée s’engage à suivre l’entièreté de la formation et du concours. 
  • Elle s’engage à pitcher lors du concours de pitch et peut être accompagnée d’une autre personne max lors de la formation et lors du concours.

MODALITÉS DE DÉPÔT

Les projets doivent être déposés sur http://www.pitchbox.be avant le 02/02/2026 à 23h59. Les textes suivants sont demandés (ils seront évalués de manière anonyme et ne peuvent contenir aucune référence permettant d’en identifier le/la scénariste) :

  • Titre
  • Logline (60 mots max) : synthétise avec une touche d’ironie le cœur du projet, déclencheur, protagoniste(s), enjeux…
  • Pitch (300 mots max)
  • Note d’intention (250 mots max)
  • Lettre de motivation (150 mots max) : pourquoi soumettez-vous à la Pitchbox ? Qu’en attendez-vous ? En quoi votre projet peut-il en bénéficier ? Cherchez vous une production, une co-production, quelqu’un pour réaliser, quelqu’un pour co-scénariser, un diffuseur ?

Une deuxième partie du formulaire récoltera le nom et les coordonnées de la personne signataire du projet.

Attention :

  • Il n’est pas autorisé de joindre au dépôt d’autres éléments que ceux susmentionnés.
  • Toute soumission ne respectant pas les critères de recevabilité, de participation ou les modalités de dépôt sera écartée.
  • Un mail de bonne réception sera envoyé.
  • Aucune mise à jour du dossier ou nouveau dépôt ne sera accepté.

CRITÈRES DE SÉLECTION

Le jury ne recevra que les textes anonymes, et évaluera :

  • Objectif et enjeux : sont-ils clairement identifiables ? Sont-ils suffisamment forts et pertinents ? Quels conflits, quels obstacles génèrent-ils ?
  • Personnages : sont-ils bien caractérisés ? Ont-ils profondeur, complexité, dilemmes… Ont-ils une arche ? Y a-t-il un mécanisme d’empathie fort ?
  • Arène et univers : constituent-ils le bon cadre pour l’histoire ? Sont-ils en adéquation avec la thématique ? 
  • Thématique : Est-elle suffisamment originale et puissante ? En quoi le cinéma de genre est-il particulièrement approprié pour faire résonner cette thématique ? 
  • Cinéma de genre : le récit se prête-t-il au cinéma de genre et à ses codes ? Comment le genre particulier choisi (vampires, bodyhorror…) est-il traité (respecté, détourné) ?

BIF Market, ARRF, ASA and UPFF+ are organising the seventh edition of the Belgian Fantastic Pitchbox, in partnership with Screen Brussels, with the aim of encouraging the development of feature-length genre films: fantasy, surrealism, thriller, fantasy, science fiction, dark comedy, horror, crime, etc.

The 10 selected projects will receive an accreditation for the BIFMarket, take part in a pitch training program, followed by a pitch competition in front of a panel of industry professionals, with the opportunity to win:

  • €1,000 writing grant from Sabam for Culture
  • €1,500 development grant from Amplo
  • A mentorship program offered by ARPI

SCHEDULE

  • 22/12/2025: Call for projects opens
  • 02/02/2026: Call for projects closes
  • 23/02/2026: Announcement of the 10 selected projects
  • 02 & 06/03/2026: Pitch training sessions
  • 17/04/2026: Belgian Fantastic Pitchbox Session 7

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • The project must be written in French.
  • The project must be a feature-length genre film project.
  • The project must be submitted by one single author.
  • The author must be a Belgian resident.
  • Each author may submit only one project.
  • The project must be submitted in strict compliance with the submission guidelines detailed below, in particular regarding the anonymity of the requested texts.
  • The project must not have been submitted to this same call in previous years.
  • The project must not have been selected for another pitch competition in Belgium.
  • The project must not have already received funding from the CCA Commission.
  • The project must not already have a broadcaster attached to its development.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS UPON SELECTION

  • The author commits to attending the entire training program and pitch competition.
  • The author commits to pitching during the pitch competition and may be accompanied by one additional person maximum during the training sessions and the competition.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Projects must be submitted via https://www.bifmarket.net no later than 02/02/2026 at 11:59 p.m.

The following documents are required. (They will be evaluated anonymously and must not contain any information allowing the author to be identified):

  • Title
  • Logline (max. 60 words): a concise summary with a touch of irony, presenting the core of the project, inciting incident, protagonist(s), stakes, etc.
  • Pitch (max. 300 words)
  • Statement of intent (max. 250 words)
  • Motivation letter (max. 150 words): Why are you submitting to the Pitchbox? What do you expect from it? How can your project benefit from it? Are you looking for a producer, co-producer, director, co-writer or broadcaster?

A second part of the form will collect the author’s name and contact details.

Notice :

  • No additional materials beyond those listed above may be submitted.
  • Any submission that does not comply with the eligibility criteria, participation requirements or submission guidelines will be disqualified.
  • A confirmation of receipt will be sent to all applicants.
  • No updates to the application or resubmissions will be accepted.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The jury will receive only the anonymous texts and will evaluate:

  • Objectives and stakes: Are they clearly identifiable? Are they strong and relevant? What conflicts and obstacles do they generate?
  • Characters: Are they well developed? Do they show depth, complexity, dilemmas, etc. Do they have a narrative arc? Is there a strong empathy mechanism?
  • Setting and universe: Do they provide an appropriate framework for the story? Are they aligned with the theme?
  • Theme: Is it sufficiently original and powerful? How does genre cinema enhance or resonate with this theme?
  • Genre cinema: Does the narrative lend itself to genre cinema and its codes? How is the chosen genre (vampires, body horror, etc.) approached (respected, subverted).
