Ventana Sur 2023: A Week of Exceptional Cinema and Collaboration
From November 27 to December 1, 2023, the BIF Market team participated in Ventana Sur, one of the most prominent markets for the Latin American film industry. Hosted in Buenos Aires and supported by the Marché du Film and INCAA, the event brought together thousands of professionals, showcasing the dynamic landscape of genre cinema through panels, screenings, and pitching sessions.
Our presence focused on the Blood Window Market, a vital hub for genre film creators and producers. Highlights included insightful conferences such as “Different Ways to Make Films with Mexico” and “Fantastic Portals: Meet the International Distributors“, where key figures like Hugues Barbier (Yellow Veil Pictures), Julian Richards (Jinga Films), and Manon Barat (XYZ Films) shared their expertise.
One standout moment was the presentation of Fall by Belgian director Steffen Geypens, developed by Caviar. Thanks to a partnership with Air Europa, the BIF Market was proud to send this ambitious project to Ventana Sur, providing a unique opportunity for Belgian talent to shine on the international stage. This initiative underlines our commitment to fostering global recognition for local creators and supporting their journey toward international success.
The Work in Progress and Pitch Sessions offered glimpses into the future of genre filmmaking, while screenings such as Charming by José Maria Cicala and the award-winning Huesera by Michelle Garza Cervera demonstrated the exceptional talent within the genre.
This edition of Ventana Sur marked a record-breaking attendance of over 4,500 participants, cementing the event’s importance as a platform for collaboration and innovation in cinema.
